Interactive Plot for Multi-Scenario Cost Comparison of Cement Industry Decarbonisation Pathways

This interactive Pareto chart compares different decarbonisation configurations for cement production.
Each point represents a unique combination of base fuel technology and COâ‚‚ capture option, evaluated for cost, emissions, and energy consumption.

  • X-axis: Total production cost (€/t of clinker)

  • Y-axis: COâ‚‚ emissions (t COâ‚‚/t of clinker)

  • Color scale: Specific energy consumption (GJ/t of clinker) — from low (blue) to high (orange).

  • Shape: Represents the base fuel technology used in the kiln (e.g., Coal, Biomass, Hydrogen, etc.)

  • Pattern/Fill: Represents the COâ‚‚ capture type, such as:

    • Solid fill: No capture

    • Striped: MEA capture

    • Cross-hatched: Oxyfuel combustion

    • Dotted: Calcium looping (CaL)

    • Square pattern: Electrified MEA with heat pumps (CC_MEA_HPs)
